Johannes Henricus Antonius "Jan" Fontijn (9 February 1936 – 6 January 2022) was a Dutch linguist and Dutch literary historian.
He was known for a large number of biographical studies of Dutch writers, including Frederik van Eeden and Jacob Israël de Haan.
He was a critic for multiple newspapers.
Fontijn was married to the writer Charlotte Mutsaers.
He died in Amsterdam on 6 January 2022, at the age of 85.
