Joep Geraedts (17 April 1948 – 25 December 2022) was a Dutch academic.

Biography.

Geraedts was born in Swalmen in 1948.
He studied biology at the Nijmegen University.
He did his his PhD research in Leiden.

He was the first professor of Genetics and Cell Biology at the Maastricht University.
He was a professor for more than 30 years, between 1982 and 2013.
He was also founder and head of the Department of Clinical Genetics at the University Hospital of Maastricht.

Geraedts died in Maastricht on 25 December 2022, at the age of 74.
